Job summary

GCG Custom Engineered Solutions (CES) is seeking a Buyer to join the procurement team supporting cable assembly operations. You will plan and purchase raw materials to meet production demand while maintaining safe inventory levels, cost control, and supplier performance.

You will coordinate with production, engineering, and supply chain to align material availability with schedules; manage POs, monitor deliveries, and resolve shortages or quality issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in purchasing, buyer, or materials planning within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with MRP/ERP systems (Oracle strongly preferred).
• Strong understanding of material planning, inventory control, and procurement processes.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard business applications.

Responsibilities

• Manage purchase orders from requisition through receipt, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Procure raw materials, MRO, and services at optimal cost, quality, and lead time.
• Monitor open orders and manage delivery schedules to prevent shortages or disruptions.
• Review MRP outputs in Oracle to plan and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
• Establish and adjust safety stock levels to match production needs.
• Balance inventory investment with service level expectations.
• Source and evaluate suppliers, obtain quotations, and negotiate pricing and lead times.
• Build and maintain supplier relationships and participate in supplier performance reviews.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to align material availability with schedules.
• Resolve material issues including shortages, quality concerns, and supplier discrepancies.
• Support cost reduction initiatives and process improvements across procurement.
• Maintain data integrity within ERP and procurement systems.
