Job summary

GCG Custom Engineered Solutions seeks a Buyer to plan and purchase raw materials for cable assembly operations, ensuring material availability to meet production schedules. You will manage POs, optimize costs, and coordinate with internal teams to maintain flow and on-time delivery.

The role requires 3–5 years in purchasing or materials planning, experience with MRP/ERP (Oracle preferred), and strong negotiation skills. Remote US coverage with standard work hours and a focus on inventory control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in purchasing, buyer, or materials planning within manufacturing.
• Experience with MRP/ERP systems (Oracle strongly preferred).
• Strong understanding of material planning, inventory control, and procurement processes.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with internal teams and suppliers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard business applications.
• Detail-oriented with accuracy, follow-through and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Manage purchase orders from requisition to receipt, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Procure raw materials, MRO, and services at optimal cost, quality, and lead time.
• Monitor open orders and adjust delivery schedules to prevent shortages or disruptions.
• Review MRP outputs in Oracle to plan inventory levels.
• Establish and adjust safety stock levels to meet production needs.
• Balance inventory investment with service level expectations.
• Source and evaluate suppliers, obtain quotations, and negotiate pricing and lead times.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to support reliability and continuous improvement.
• Participate in supplier performance reviews and support corrective actions as needed.
• Partner with production, engineering, and supply chain to align material availability with manufacturing schedules.
• Resolve material issues including shortages, quality concerns, and supplier discrepancies.
• Support cost reductions and process improvements across procurement; maintain ERP data integrity.
