Cooley LLP in San Diego seeks a Marketing & Client Development Senior Manager of Governance, Planning & Operations. This role sits on the Strategy, Transformation & Growth Team, building scalable infrastructure and data-backed frameworks to move from reactive execution to proactive, high-impact strategy.

You will lead planning cycles, manage budgets, coordinate resources and agencies, oversee MarTech, design workflows, train the team, and act as liaison across departments while ensuring

Qualifications

• 7+ years applicable experience in marketing or business development, preferably with strategy/transformation focus.
• 2+ years of exempt/management experience in relevant roles.
• Professional services industry experience and/or B2B marketing experience.
• Experience with marketing and client development planning and operations.
• Hands-on experience with project management technologies (e.g., Workfront, financial management tools).
• Ability to work independently and mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Planning & Operational Governance: manage planning cycles and align initiatives with firm-wide goals.
• Budget Management & Analysis: forecast, variance reporting, and spend optimization.
• Resource & Agency Coordination: headcount planning and onboarding of contractors/agency partners.
• MarTech Administration & Utilization: track and optimize marketing tech stack for data-informed decisions.
• Workflow Design & Process Improvement: implement standardized workflows to speed time-to-market.
• Training & Skills Enablement: maintain training curriculum for the MCD team.
• Cross-Functional Liaison: coordinate with Finance, HR, Communications, Innovation, and Technology.
• Change Management Execution: support transitions when deploying new tools or structures.
