Job summary

Mesabi Metallics in Minnesota is seeking a Logistics & Commercial Analyst to support commercial and logistics decisions. You will analyze pricing, shipments, inventory, contracts, and provide actionable insights to optimize margins and service.

This role reports to the Manager – Commercial & Market Strategy – North America and collaborates with S&OP, rail and marine logistics teams. Primary focus includes provisional pricing, mark-to-market analysis, and data-pack creation; occasional site

Qualifications

• 3+ years of analytical, commercial, logistics, finance, supply chain or related experience.
• Advanced spreadsheet and data-quality skills with strong attention to detail.
• Understanding of pricing, freight, settlement, shipment or contract data and ability to resolve discrepancies.
• Strong analytical writing, reporting and communication skills for decision makers.
• Ability to manage recurring reporting requirements and ad hoc analysis in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure integrity of shipment, volume, inventory, pricing and logistics data.
• Analyze provisional and final pricing outcomes and own mark-to-market reporting.
• Select, validate and maintain pricing indices, pellet premiums, freight inputs and historical data.
• Develop pricing, netback, landed-cost and other analyses, and present conclusions to the CCO and NA Manager.
• Monitor contract drawdown, customer volumes and delivery status against commitments; identify risks and actions.
• Evaluate logistics KPIs, railcar utilization, throughput, demurrage and service performance; propose improvements.
• Review freight invoices, settlements and claims; resolve discrepancies with carriers and terminals.
• Lead weight/quality reconciliation and assess impact on settlements.
• Design and prepare S&OP data packs, dashboards and management reports; perform ad hoc analysis.
• Reconcile contract commitments and settlements; conduct market research to inform strategy.
