Job summary

WHOOP is seeking an Assistant General Counsel, Litigation to lead and supervise our global litigation and regulatory enforcement matters from the Boston office. You will report to the CLO and guide strategy across commercial disputes, IP, employment disputes, and investigations, ensuring high-quality representation from law firms.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
• 7+ years of relevant legal experience, including experience at a nationally recognized law firm and/or an in-house legal department managing litigation.
• Experience as the lead or managing attorney on complex litigation and strong command of litigation strategy and procedure.
• Ability to translate complicated legal issues into concise, practical advice for senior executives and business leaders.
• Experience building and improving legal processes, playbooks, and operational infrastructure to support a scaling business.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the Company's litigation portfolio with strategy, oversight, and resolution of lawsuits and other contested matters.
• Develop litigation strategy for significant matters and determine strategic objectives.
• Provide senior leadership with assessments of litigation risk and recommended actions.
• Select, retain, and manage outside counsel and test their recommendations throughout the lifecycle.
• Oversee litigation spending, budgets, staffing, and alternative fee arrangements.
• Develop settlement strategies and lead significant settlement negotiations.
• Partner with Finance on reserves and financial implications of litigation.
• Collaborate with People Team on employment disputes.
• Manage litigation-related insurance matters and claim coordination.
• Oversee discovery, e-discovery, and evidence-preservation obligations.
