Job summary

The State of Georgia's Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities in Atlanta seeks an Associate General Counsel, Litigation to provide legal analysis, represent the agency in hearings, and coordinate with the Department of Law.

This hybrid role requires a Juris Doctorate and Georgia license, with 2–3 days in the office; statewide travel for trainings and hearings; strong writing and analytical skills; and experience in healthcare compliance.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and GA bar admission or eligibility to sit for Georgia Bar within 1 year.
• Experience in healthcare compliance, privacy and security programs.
• Strong written and oral communication; ability to analyze data and prepare legal opinions.

Responsibilities

• Represent the agency in administrative hearings or as a client to the Department of Law.
• Coordinate due process procedures and appeals; ensure legal compliance of department processes.
• Participate in case preparation for trials and hearings; assist with settlements and judgments.
