Qualifications

  • Superior analytical skills.
  • Ability to understand and apply Federal and state laws and regulations relating to government programs and operations.
  • Ability to provide legal recommendations under broad supervision.
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited college or university.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Georgia or reciprocity or be eligible to be admitted to the State Bar of Georgia within six (6) months of DCA employment.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of Legal experience.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work as a team player.

Responsibilities

  • The Associate General Counsel will be responsible for handling legal issues related to the DCA administered programs across the agency.
  • The Associate General Counsel provides legal advice on federal and state laws and regulations that impact the administration and implementation of the Departments within the agency.
  • Additional responsibilities include reviewing program policies for regulatory compliance and responding to GA Open Records Requests.
  • Developing and maintaining internal contracts and procurement processes.
  • Serving as liaison between the agency and the Attorney General’s office on litigation matters.
