Job summary

The University of North Carolina seeks a Library Business Officer to lead financial management, HR administration, and operational strategy for the library. As a member of the Dean’s leadership team, you will direct budgeting, payroll, and compliance while aligning library activities with university policies and priorities.

You will supervise approximately 110 FTE, manage grants and contracts, and work with campus partners to optimize resources and policy-driven processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
• Five years of progressive experience in business or HR management.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic financial planning and forecasting for the library’s $15M budget.
• Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and retention for faculty, staff, and student employees.
• Oversee grants and contracts management and payroll for EHRA and SHRA roles.
• Interpret policies, design efficient workflows, and train staff on financial systems.
• Serve as liaison with campus offices to align library activities with university goals.
• Direct post-award management for external grants and research funding.
• Oversee internal controls, audits, and risk management.
