Job summary

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) is seeking an Assistant Director of Learning & Development to design, deliver, and evaluate university-wide programs that advance learning for all employees, faculty and staff. The role partners with campus leaders to build a forward-looking L&D strategy, facilitates sessions, and trains internal facilitators to strengthen organizational effectiveness and belonging.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Education or related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in learning and development, talent development, organizational development, training, human resources, or related field.
• Experience designing and implementing employee development programs.
• Experience facilitating training, workshops, or development programs.
• Experience working with learning management systems or learning technologies (e.g., LinkedIn Learning, Workday, Vector Solutions, etc.).
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, programs, and timelines.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism in HR environment.
• Excellent communication, consultation, and stakeholder management skills across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver high-impact learning experiences, in-person and online, for employees, faculty and staff.
• Partner with senior leaders and campus stakeholders to assess needs and shape a forward-looking L&D strategy.
• Facilitate sessions for diverse audiences and train internal facilitators.
• Lead leadership and manager development programs and onboarding curricula.
• Manage a portfolio of talent programs including succession and performance management.
• Develop measurement systems to track program effectiveness and drive improvements.
• Promote a culture of continuous learning and foster belonging through L&D offerings.
• Manage the learning management system and coordinate required training with content owners.
