Job summary

King County's Department of Community and Human Services seeks a Training and Professional Development Lead to shape learning across the department. You will build departmentwide training programs, create role-based learning tracks, and partner with leaders to align development with priorities.

This role reports to the Chief People Officer, leads cross‑functional initiatives, and coordinates onboarding, supervisor and leadership programs, equity and belonging education, and change management.

Qualifications

• Minimum of ten years leading training or professional development programs.
• Five years supporting organizational change and helping employees adopt new practices.
• Experience applying equity, accessibility, and inclusion to learning.
• Experience using training data to improve programs.
• Strong written and verbal communication with all levels of an organization.
• Ability to partner with executive leaders and coordinate cross‑team projects.
• Experience with learning management systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead departmentwide training and professional development programs.
• Develop standardized training and role-based learning tracks.
• Coordinate required training across the department and track completion.
• Establish a centralized process to track training requirements and provide supervisors with reports.
• Design onboarding and leadership development programs.
• Evaluate training effectiveness and adjust programs based on feedback.
• Collaborate with Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging teams and HR.
