Job summary

Safeway in Phoenix, AZ, seeks an experienced Labor Relations professional to advise management and associates on policy interpretation, wage and employment actions, and union coordination. The role involves coordinating investigations, managing grievances, and supporting ADA accommodations under guidance of in-house counsel.

You will prepare analyses and documentation for grievances, respond to information requests, and assist with contract negotiations while maintaining accurate labor relations

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent work experience.
• HR training or certification preferred.
• Significant HR/LR managerial experience.

Responsibilities

• Advises management on discipline and policy interpretation for pay, demotions, warnings, and terminations.
• Coordinates grievance meetings with unions and responds to information requests.
• Prepares analysis, reports, and documentation for grievances and information requests.
• Responds to employee complaints within policy and union contracts.
• Implements accommodations and interactive processes under ADA and applicable laws.
• Assists with contract negotiations by researching and documenting issues for union discussions.
• Maintains accurate labor relations records and prepares memoranda on wage/benefit changes.
• Directs investigations of grievances and assigns actions to management.
