Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina is seeking a Senior IT Category Manager to lead sourcing and vendor governance for IT hardware, software and services. You will partner with vendors, business units, and the Corporate Services Vendor Contracting team to negotiate contracts and ensure alignment with business requirements.

In this hybrid role, you will establish category strategies, run sourcing events, develop bid documents, and apply total cost of ownership analyses to optimize value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required).
• 5+ years of experience in related field.
• In lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience in related field.

Responsibilities

• Establish sourcing strategies for IT hardware; involve software and services as appropriate.
• Conduct sourcing events with project work plans, category profiles and evaluation criteria.
• Develop and manage RFP/RFI/RFQ documents and track performance metrics.
• Analyze market dynamics and share expertise within the portfolio.
• Partner with stakeholders to source products and services using proven tools and analytics.
• Evaluate total cost of ownership analyses and provide optimization recommendations.
• Lead cross-functional teams in complex vendor negotiations and coordinate multiple agreements.
• Review supplier relationships and drive performance within the category.
• Foster strong vendor relationships and engage vendors through formal and informal transactions.
• Coordinate vendor reviews and risk assessments; manage vendor compliance.
• Develop new procedures and training for process or policy improvements.
