Job summary

Harvard Kennedy School is seeking an Associate Director, IT Portfolio & Demand Management to lead HKSIT’s portfolio governance, demand-management, and quarterly planning practices, in close collaboration with the CIO and IT leadership.

The role translates school priorities into an integrated portfolio of initiatives, projects, and operational commitments, establishes standards, tracks progress, and enables timely decisions to maximize value and capacity.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of portfolio/program management or related experience.
• Experience managing complex portfolios of projects and operational work.
• Experience with governance, reporting, and executive escalation.
• Experience in higher education or complex organizations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead portfolio governance, planning, and execution across strategic initiatives and operational commitments.
• Provide leadership-facing reporting on portfolio health, priorities, risks, and capacity.
• Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders to align business needs with IT delivery.
• Facilitate quarterly planning and decision-making on starts, stops, defers.
• Drive continuous improvement in portfolio management processes.
