Job summary

Columbia Business School seeks a Director of IT Portfolio and Project Management to lead how technology work is selected, sequenced, delivered, and governed across the school. You will own the technology portfolio end-to-end, coordinating with the Dean's Office on annual planning and ensuring investments are deliberate and well-governed.

The role requires strategic judgment and hands-on delivery management as a senior CBS IT leader, partnering with business units to balance demand with capacity

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in project, program, or portfolio management.
• Experience establishing or significantly improving portfolio governance.
• Track record delivering technology projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Ability to engage credibly with senior leadership and prioritize competing demands.
• Familiarity with portfolio and work management tooling and IT service management platforms.

Responsibilities

• Owns the annual technology portfolio cycle in partnership with the Dean's Office, aligning strategy with the portfolio plan and seeking approval.
• Runs quarterly portfolio reviews with School leadership to cover delivery progress, risk, and resource requests.
• Maintains a single authoritative view of the portfolio, including projects, sponsors, funding, status, and dependencies.
• Designs and operates the intake process for technology requests with clear business justification and success criteria.
