Job summary

Columbia Business School is seeking a Director of IT Portfolio and Project Management to lead how technology work is selected, sequenced, delivered, and governed. The director owns the end-to-end technology portfolio, drives annual planning with the Dean's Office, and ensures investments are deliberate and well-governed.

The role requires strategic judgement and hands-on delivery management, sitting as a senior member of the CBS IT leadership team and partnering with business and technology

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required with minimum 5 years of progressive project, program, or portfolio management.
• Experience establishing or enhancing portfolio governance - intake, prioritization, reporting, or delivery standards.
• Track record delivering technology projects with multiple stakeholders and cross-organizational dependencies.
• Ability to engage senior leadership and translate business intent to technical delivery.
• Familiarity with portfolio/work management tooling and IT service management platforms.

Responsibilities

• Owns the annual technology portfolio cycle and aligns with the Dean's Office.
• Leads quarterly portfolio reviews covering delivery progress, risk, resource contention, and out-of-cycle requests.
• Maintains a single authoritative portfolio view with sponsorship, ownership, funding, status, and dependencies.
• Partners with the Executive Director to ensure portfolio decisions reflect strategic priorities and roadmap.
• Builds and maintains portfolio reporting for School leadership on delivery, budget, benefits realization, and risk.
