Job summary

George Mason University is seeking an UL HR Partner (HRP) within University Life to advance HR leadership for a portfolio of student-affairs–focused units. You will provide strategic, consultative, and operational HR guidance, ensuring compliant and high-quality service delivery while supervising a designated team.

The role emphasizes risk-aware decision-making, effective teamwork, and collaboration with UL HR leadership and Central HR to support employee success and organizational goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of full-time experience in Human Resources, Payroll, Business/Accounting or closely related field.
• Experience managing standard recruiting processes including candidate communication and interview coordination.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and support cross-functional initiatives.
• Experience building productive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills for presenting issues and solutions.
• Experience compiling HR data and reports to support decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Provides strategic, consultative HR leadership to designated units within University Life.
• Leads and supervises a team of HR professionals, including workload planning and performance evaluations.
• Reviews and prepares position descriptions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Oversees recruitment and hiring activities in coordination with Central HR and hiring authorities.
• Coordinates staff onboarding, offboarding, and status changes with HR and Central HR.
• Maintains partnerships across UL and Central HR for coordinated service delivery.
• Drives staff development, training, and employee engagement initiatives.
• Represents UL HR in divisional and institutional initiatives and projects.
