Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University seeks an experienced HR Professional to lead strategic and operational HR services within the Office of the Provost. As a member of the HR Shared Services leadership, you will advise employees, managers and senior leadership, shaping HR programs to support Provost goals and the university service model.

You will partner across the University on HR initiatives, manage confidential matters, influence policy, and drive process improvements in a fast-paced academic

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, public administration, HR or related field; or equivalent experience.
• Considerable experience advising and consulting with senior leaders, managers and employees.
• Proven ability to build relationships with internal teams and stakeholders.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Broad HR expertise across employment, compensation, performance, employee relations, etc.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership on HR issues and participate in policy development and implementation.
• Advise on complex matters including contracts, performance management, and employee relations.
• Identify organizational needs and plan programs in partnership with university units.
• Lead process improvements to enhance HR efficiency and effectiveness.
• Deliver training sessions to service areas as needed.
• Support position management, compensation, and onboarding processes.
• Participate in HR communities and university HR trainings.
• Contribute to special projects aligned with the Provost’s Office and university goals.
