Job summary

Meridian Charter Schools is seeking a Managing Director of Operations and Human Resources. You will report to the COO and serve as the HR and operational liaison to school leaders across three campuses in Chicago, driving strategic initiatives and special projects.

The role requires leading HR systems, policy development, and compliance, with a focus on equity, CEI, and data-driven improvements. A master's degree and 6+ years in HR/ops are expected, with SHRM credentials preferred.

Qualifications

• Certification: SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred or actively pursuing.
• Master's degree required, preferably in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Education, or a related field
• Minimum of 6 years of progressive HR and/or operations experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably in the education sector or a similar mission-driven organization

Responsibilities

• Partner with the COO and leadership team to formulate, develop, and evaluate continuous improvement in HR, talent management, and operational strategies that achieve the shared vision, mission, and goals of the organization.
• Lead HR function across the organization; design and implement HR systems, policies, and continuous improvements; oversee audits, reporting, and data integrity.
• Oversee recruitment strategy, certification compliance, and hiring alignment with school needs and ISBE licensure requirements; lead teacher recruitment initiatives.
