Job summary

The City of Columbus is seeking an experienced human resources professional to administer HR functions for a department, division, or agency, or a specialized HR activity for the City. This position requires strong advisory and organizational skills.

Under general direction, you will advise management on HR matters, supervise the recruitment process, ensure compliance with laws and labor contracts, maintain personnel records, and support policy development and disciplinary matters as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a HR-related field or equivalent experience.
• Master’s degree may substitute for one year of required HR experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as advisor to management on HR matters.
• Participate in department/division reorganizations and analyze class specs.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; advise management on actions.
• Ensure compliance with labor contracts; monitor and enforce contractual requirements; participate in disciplinary/grievance processes.
