Job summary

Child Development is seeking an HR Manager in California to oversee human resources activities under the director. The role requires a degree in HR, 3+ years in HR admin/management, including 2 years of staff training and supervision, and bilingual English/Spanish abilities.

You will supervise HR staff, manage recruitment, preboarding, and benefits, ensure compliance with EP programs, and participate in audits. Strong leadership, discretion, and deadline-driven work are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resource management required.
• Three years’ recent HR experience in a responsible admin/management role with two years of staff training and supervision.
• Substitution: public administration or business degree with a recent HR certificate may replace the HR degree.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise, train, orient, and conduct timely performance evaluations of HR specialists and HR support supervisor.
• Engage in staff development through training observation, coaching, and supervision.
• Oversee recruitment and selection processes, including posting, screening, interviews, references, offers, and pre-employment checks.
• Ensure timely job advertising in line with equal opportunity policies and participate in job fairs.
• Administer health insurance, retirement, and other benefits; manage leaves of absence.
• Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with California employment laws.
