Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources to oversee Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, and Salary/Information Systems. The role reports to the Superintendent and collaborates with the Board of Education and senior HR staff.

The position requires a master’s degree and at least 10 years in education or HR, including 5 years in managerial roles, with strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in education, public administration, business administration, or closely related field.
• Ten years of education or human resources experience.
• Five years of managerial experience.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements for HR in schools.
• Ability to lead a large, diverse staff and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Directs and leads HR programs in Employee Relations; Talent Acquisition; Talent Development; and Salary/Info Systems.
• Provides information to the Superintendent, Chief Business Officer, and Board on personnel matters and HR policy.
• Acts as Superintendent’s designee on personnel issues and counsels administrators on employee concerns.
• Ensures due process through grievance hearings and investigations and maintains compliant HR records.
• Represents HR in board meetings and collaborates with Financial Services on payroll and compensation.
