Job summary

Andrews University seeks a Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to lead the HR organization, align HR initiatives with the university's mission, and advance employee wellbeing and organizational effectiveness.

The CHRO serves as a strategic advisor to university leadership, drives policy development, and oversees compensation, benefits, wellness, and HR systems while modeling Christ-centered servant leadership and confidentiality in all matters.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in HR or a related field is required.
• Professional HR certifications (e.g., SPHR, SHRM-SCP) preferred.
• Minimum eight years of leadership or supervisory experience in HR.
• Experience with HR information systems and analytics.
• Ability to interpret employment law and university policies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee core HR operations including employment, payroll, compensation, benefits, wellness, records, and HR systems.
• Develop and enforce compliance with federal/state/university policies; contribute to policy development.
• Foster employee relations through programs and a respectful workplace; liaison between staff and administration.
• Support recruitment processes and high-quality service across employment cycles.
• Oversee training and development initiatives supporting individual and institutional growth.
• Provide strategic guidance on compensation, budgeting, and HR workflows; drive operational efficiency.
• Organize campus engagement events and manage programs like The Crayon Box.
• Maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive personnel matters.
