Job summary

The University of New Haven seeks a Senior Human Resources Business Partner (SHRBP) to serve as a trusted advisor to university leaders, managers, and staff on employee relations and labor relations.

You will provide timely guidance on performance, investigations, policy interpretation, and contract administration, while supporting labor relations activities and collective bargaining. This role aims to foster a fair, compliant, and collaborative workplace aligned with university priorities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years HR experience with employee and labor relations.
• Experience advising managers on performance and workplace conflicts.
• Experience conducting workplace investigations.
• Experience with collective bargaining agreements and arbitration prep.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary HR advisor to leaders and employees on employee and labor relations.
• Conduct and support workplace investigations.
• Advise on employee separations and workforce changes.
• Review actions for policy and contract compliance.
• Interpret and administer CBAs and participate in grievance handling.
• Partner with leaders to address organizational challenges.
• Provide guidance on employment laws and policy development.
