Job summary

City of Kenton seeks an HR/Personnel Director to lead recruitment, training, benefits, and employee relations for the city government. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of independent work while driving policy development.

Responsibilities include managing HR policies, onboarding, performance reviews, workers' compensation, safety training, and labor contract participation. 40-hour week with occasional evenings or weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor’s degree preferred in human resources or related field; or two years of HR experience; or equivalent combination.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong attention to detail; ability to work independently and in a team.
• Strong computer skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; confidentiality in handling information.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all HR functions including Recruitment, Training, Employee Benefits, and Employee Relations.
• Administer HR policies and develop new HR policies, procedures, and forms.
• Manage hiring process including postings, interviewing, probationary periods, performance reviews and onboarding.
• Oversee onboarding for new hires including employee data, HR databases, and benefits administration.
• Oversee termination and performance management processes including annual reviews.
• Administer benefit plans (health, dental, vision, life, EAP, COBRA).
• Oversee FMLA, ADA, Unemployment, Workers' Comp, and first report of injury.
• Participate in labor contract negotiations; oversee drug screening and CDL queries.
• Maintain the Employee Intranet and develop/ administer employee safety training.
