Job summary

New York Sports Club (NYSC) is seeking an HR Director to serve as a strategic partner to functional leaders and support HR operations across a designated market. This role focuses on employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, and policy implementation within a fast-paced organization.

The incumbent will lead, advise and document HR matters, ensure legal compliance, and drive onboarding, training, and leadership development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field preferred; professional certification a plus.
• 5-6 years of experience in performing human resource related functions.
• Extensive experience handling complex employee relations in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Working knowledge of EEOC and applicable employment laws, policies and procedures.
• Excellent customer service skills with strong attention to detail.
• Experience with applicant tracking systems and HRIS.
• Ability to coach and influence operational leaders while balancing advocacy for all team members.

Responsibilities

• Model and promote NYSC mission, values and principles with pride and integrity.
• Partner with Business Leaders to respond to HR inquiries regarding policies, procedures, programs and employee relations.
• Support performance management, workforce planning and succession processes.
• Investigate escalated HR issues and escalate high‑risk situations as needed.
• Maintain thorough documentation on HR matters including case summaries and terminations.
• Maintain knowledge of Federal, State and Local employment laws and regulations.
• Ensure onboarding and manager immersion activities are executed.
• Deliver training modules on employment, compliance and designated topics.
• Conduct weekly mentor-mentee calls to ensure immersion and knowledge transfer.
• Maintain confidentiality of HR information and compliance across records.
• Support HR projects including updating documents, handbooks and job descriptions.
• Conduct exit interviews and report trends to leadership.
