Job summary

Fernbank Museum of Natural History in Atlanta seeks a Manager of Grants & Sponsorships to grow and steward a portfolio of corporate, foundation, and strategic community partners.

This role leads the full lifecycle of grants and sponsorships—from prospect research and proposal development to benefit fulfillment, reporting, renewal strategies, and closeout—while collaborating with Education, Finance, Marketing, and other teams to advance Fernbank's mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with relevant experience.
• 3–5 years in nonprofit fundraising, grant administration, sponsorship development, or related field.
• Track record securing and managing grants and sponsorships from proposal to reporting.
• Familiarity with online grant applications and reporting portals.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage grant and sponsorship proposals and requests generating >$900,000 annually.
• Write persuasive narratives aligning programs with funder priorities.
• Identify and qualify prospective corporate, foundation, and community partners.
• Manage all phases of grant/sponsorship lifecycle: submission, compliance, reporting, renewal, closeout.
• Collaborate with Marketing for sponsor recognition and communications.
• Collect and communicate program outcomes and metrics for reports.
• Ensure timely fulfillment of sponsorship benefits and grant requirements.
• Coordinate with Education, Finance, Marketing and others for accurate information sharing.
• Maintain grants and sponsorship calendar and track through CRM systems.
• Prepare briefing materials and funding summaries for meetings.
• Leverage AI and technology to enhance research, proposals, and efficiency.
• Monitor philanthropy trends to identify new funding opportunities.
