Job summary

United Way of Greater Atlanta seeks a Director of Grant Development to lead research, writing, and submission of grant proposals and reports. You will coordinate with the Office of Development and multiple departments to secure funding from foundations, corporations, and government agencies, ensuring compliance and timely reporting.

The role requires strategic thinking, strong storytelling, and excellence in project management, with a focus on data-driven funder updates and stewardship

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (Communications, English, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Public Policy, Business)
• 3–5 years of professional grant writing, foundation relations, or nonprofit development experience
• Experience with CRM or grants management systems

Responsibilities

• Research, identify, and evaluate grant opportunities aligned with organizational priorities and fundraising goals
• Develop, write, edit, and submit grant proposals, LOIs, applications, sponsorship requests, reports, and stewardship communications
• Manage the full grant lifecycle: prospect research, proposal development, submission coordination, compliance, and reporting
• Collaborate with multiple departments to gather programmatic, financial, and impact data for proposals and funder updates
• Monitor trends, maintain funder profiles, and provide strategic recommendations to support cultivation and partnership growth
• Track and report proposal activity, grant revenue, pipeline, deliverables, and outcomes
