Job summary

Stem, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to lead our FP&A function, guiding budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial analysis across the company.

You will partner with the CFO and senior leadership to translate strategy into actionable plans and investor-ready materials. You will build and manage financial models for revenue, opex, headcount, cash flow, and unit economics, while directing close, variance analysis, and executive commentary.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive FP&A, corporate finance, investment banking, or management consulting experience.
• 3+ years leading a team of managers or analysts.
• Experience in high-growth technology or energy with a software company preferred.
• Proven track record building financial models and driving planning processes in fast-growing environments.
• Strong command of GAAP, financial statement analysis, and corporate finance principles.
• Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex financial data for non-finance stakeholders and executives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end FP&A function: budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and monthly reporting.
• Partner with CFO and senior leadership to translate strategy into functional plans.
• Create and maintain leadership, board, and investor materials.
• Develop financial models for revenue, opex, headcount, cash flow, and unit economics.
• Oversee monthly/quarterly close-to-forecast cycle and variance analysis.
• Provide strategic analysis to guide pricing, hiring, and investments.
• Develop KPIs, dashboards, and reporting tools for real-time visibility.
• Manage an international FP&A team and build scalable processes.
