Job summary

CTTRANSIT seeks a Superintendent of Inventory Control to oversee the receipt, storage, and distribution of bus parts and supplies in Hartford. You will supervise the Hartford parts room and Maintenance Support Assistants, ensuring accurate records and secure storage while coordinating with Purchasing on parts availability and inventory planning.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 5+ years in automotive fleet inventory management, and supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, purchasing, inventory control, economics, or a closely related field preferred.
• Five years of professional full-time experience in automotive or fleet parts inventory management.
• At least two years in a supervisory or department-head role.
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and related software.
• Ability to learn internal software quickly and handle confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Establish and enforce rules to secure parts rooms and maximize record accuracy.
• Supervise Hartford parts room and Maintenance Support Assistants; some oversight for New Haven and Stamford rooms.
• Manage fixed asset inventory, outside maintenance contracts, uniforms, warranty recoveries.
• Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure availability; plan inventory for new equipment and seasonal needs.
• Develop inventory control policy and provide training across divisions.
• Operate inventory control computer program and conduct daily cycle counts.
• Maintain records, analyze data, and adjust inventory content and methods.
• Prepare reports and collaborate with staff at all levels.
• Attend training and participate in staff meetings and development.
• Perform evaluations and set goals for subordinates.
• Other duties as assigned.
