Job summary

Virginia Tech seeks a Director of Business Operations for Technology-enhanced Learning and Online Strategies (TLOS) to oversee financial and HR operations, budgeting, and purchasing. The role leads audits, reporting, and policy alignment with the Provost’s Office, while coordinating with senior leadership.

You will manage HR processes, internal controls, and cross-unit collaboration to advance TLOS services and strategy. Exempt role, 40 hours weekly, Blacksburg campus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, business, finance, or related field.
• Progressive financial mgmt, budgeting, accounting, or admin experience with managerial responsibility.
• Experience budgeting, forecasting, and analyses for planning and exec decision making.
• Experience advising senior leaders on financial, operational, and HR matters.
• Experience administering HR processes like hiring, payroll, leave, or performance mgmt.
• Leadership and supervisory experience establishing robust business processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop current and long-range budget plans.
• Oversee department salaries and operating expenditures and review personnel transactions.
• Advise senior leadership on resource availability for initiatives.
• Coordinate internal and external audit activity affecting TLOS.
• Align TLOS financial processes with Provost’s Office policies.
• Oversee payment, reconciliation, and fund status reporting for all funds.
• Manage HR processes including hiring, onboarding, and separation.
• Lead leave management and department employee awards.
• Advise leadership on financial matters and develop internal controls.
• Collaborate with university partners on financial and business matters.
