Commonwealth of VA Careers seeks a Director of Business Operations for Virginia Tech's Technology-enabled Learning and Online Strategies (TLOS). This role oversees financial, HR, purchasing, and facilities operations, collaborating with Provost’s Office leadership to align resources with university priorities.

Responsibilities include budgeting, financial reporting, audits, leadership advisement, and internal controls.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field.
Progressive experience in financial management, budgeting, accounting, business administration, or a closely related area, leading to managerial responsibility for complex budgets and financial operations.
Demonstrated experience developing budgets, financial forecasts, and analyses that support organizational planning and executive decision making.
Demonstrated experience advising senior leaders on financial, operational, and personnel matters and translating complex information into clear recommendations for decision making.
Demonstrated experience administering human resources processes, such as hiring, payroll, leave, or performance management.
Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience, including the ability to establish effective business processes, manage competing priorities, and collaborate successfully with colleagues and stakeholders across an organization.

Responsabilités

Develop current and long-range budget plans.
Oversee the accounting for department salaries and operating expenditures; review personnel transactions with fiscal impact.
Advise senior leadership on resources needed for new initiatives.
Coordinate internal and external audit activity that affects TLOS.
Align TLOS financial processes with Provost’s Office policies and priorities.
Oversee payment, reconciliation, and monthly fund status reporting for all departmental funds.
Manage the department’s HR processes, including hiring, onboarding and separation, performance management, and leave management.
Serve as the department’s leave representative and manage the leave process in accordance with HR deadlines.
Maintain and provide financial and operational data to leadership to inform decisions.
Develop and implement internal controls to protect university assets.
