Job summary

Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA seeks a hands-on Chief Financial Officer/Controller to manage accounting operations, budgeting, auditing, payroll, and financial reporting. This on-site role requires strong leadership and team collaboration to ensure sound financial management and compliance with internal policies.

The ideal candidate will oversee the development and implementation of accounting systems, coordinate departmental budgets, and liaise with the Board of Directors and Audit Committee

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; and minimum of five years related experience and/or training; CPA desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records and prepare timely financial reports for management and Board of Directors; offer analysis of variances and provide insights for management decisions.
• Establish, maintain, and monitor accounting policies and procedures.
• Coordinate the budgeting and projection process for all departments; specifically responsible for preparing and monitoring the accounting department budget.
• Review financial performance, monitor budget variances and capital expenditures while also managing cash flow, perform projections and ensure adequate cash reserves.
• Lead internal and external audits, liaise with auditors, and ensure accurate documentation of financial processes.
• Work with the Development Department to manage donor restricted funds and reconciliation of accounting databases.
