Job summary

Peninsula Family Service is seeking an Accounting Manager, Financial Planning & Operations, to lead budgeting, financial analysis, and operational finance improvements. You will partner with the CFO on forecasting, cost analysis, and cross-functional projects to strengthen financial operations in a nonprofit setting.

The role supervises the Accounts Payable Accountant, supports audits, and helps ensure GAAP compliance, donor requirements, and policy adherence across the finance team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting.
• Strong financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and Excel skills.
• Experience with financial systems, data analysis, and ad hoc reporting.
• Ability to interpret grant, contract, and program financial requirements.
• Experience improving processes, internal controls, and operational workflows.
• Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support CFO in development of annual agency budget, program budgets, grant budgets, and revisions.
• Maintain and improve budget models, forecasting tools, and planning templates.
• Prepare monthly and ad hoc financial analysis for CFO and leadership.
• Analyze budget-to-actual results, staffing trends, and spending data to identify risks and opportunities.
• Oversee cost allocation methodologies to ensure compliant, accurate allocations.
• Prepare or oversee monthly invoicing, billing, and reconciliations for contracts and grants.
• Assist with month-end/year-end closing and audit support.
• Partner with CFO on special projects like system improvements and report redesign.
