Job summary

Google's infrastructure needs go far beyond server computers. As Google's Strategic Negotiation team focuses on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, you will lead energy regulatory initiatives to ensure cost-effective power supplies and support data-center growth.

You will work with Legal, Government Affairs, Energy Commercial, and Finance to design filings, champion innovative power arrangements, and translate complex federal policy into clear commercial roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Energy Policy, Engineering, Law, Economics, Business, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience leading negotiations or business development.
• 8 years of experience in energy regulatory policy, wholesale electricity market design, or energy market development.
• 5 years of experience leading regulatory proceedings, interventions, filings, or compliance initiatives before FERC.

Responsibilities

• Establish, execute, and oversee Google's overarching strategy and regulatory posture before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), proactively managing regulatory proceedings across our growing energy infrastructure portfolio.
• Lead strategic evaluations of federal regulatory environments, policies, and wholesale rulemakings, analyzing emerging market design evolutions to assess risk and optimize Google's speed-to-power initiatives.
• Design and execute regulatory filings and approvals before FERC, leading interventions, declarations, and authorizations required for asset acquisitions, project structures, and innovative commercial power arrangements.
• Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Government Affairs and Public Policy, Energy Commercial, and Finance leaders to de-risk innovative commercial structures, ensuring new power delivery models align with federal regulatory requirements.
• Lead regulatory oversight across complex commercial transactions and utility interconnections, translating intricate federal policies into clear commercial roadmaps that mitigate risk, prevent interconnection bottlenecks, and accelerate speed to power.
