Job summary

SMTC Corporation in Melbourne, FL is seeking a Buyer to manage procurement and supplier relationships, ensuring material availability and on-time delivery to support production schedules.

The Buyer will execute purchasing, manage MRP actions, monitor supplier performance, and collaborate with Planning, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Receiving, and Finance to optimize costs and inventory. A related bachelor’s degree and ERP/MRP experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in SCM, Business, or related field.
• 3+ years of purchasing/procurement experience in manufacturing/esd environment preferred.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and inventory planning.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned commodities and supplier relationships to ensure material availability for production schedules.
• Create, maintain, and manage purchase orders; monitor supplier commitments and order status.
• Execute MRP actions including PO releases, pulls, pushes, cancellations, and reschedules.
• Monitor supplier performance; resolve shortages, late deliveries, and pricing issues.
• Maintain ERP/MRP data accuracy to support planning and delivery commitments.
• Collaborate with Planning, Engineering, Manufacturing, Receiving, Quality, and Finance to resolve issues.
• Support supplier qualification, performance improvement, and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with purchasing procedures and regulatory standards.
