Job summary

American Electric Power in New Albany, OH, is seeking a Director of Transmission Capital Controls to lead the capital funding strategy and governance for the Transmission portfolio. You will guide project funding decisions, ensure compliant recording, and drive governance across regulatory and policy frameworks.

You will interface with Transmission Planning, FP&A, and other teams to align capital initiatives, improve reporting, and maintain data integrity in project records through PeopleSoft

Qualifications

• This role demands frequent communication with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
• Collaborative partnerships with stakeholders across Transmission Planning, FP&A, and Operations are required.
• Strong financial analysis background with knowledge of EPM, EcoSys, and related financial reporting is essential.
• Some business travel (~10%) is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide governance, structure, and oversight on IRs prior to funding authorization.
• Oversee capital authorization policies, monitoring, and closeout.
• Strengthen audit readiness through effective controls and policy compliance.
• Ensure timely funding and approval of projects, blankets, and budget revisions.
• Advise senior leadership on funding status, risks, and actions.
• Lead the development of dashboards, reports, and queries for capital health.
