Job summary

Marshall Health is seeking an innovative Assistant Dean for Healthcare Research Informatics to lead the integration of clinical, research, and informatics systems across the Joan C Edwards SOM and the Marshall Health Network.

The role reports to senior academic and clinical leadership and will bridge EHR data, research data platforms, and cloud infrastructures to advance patient care, efficiency, and translational research.

Qualifications

Master's or PhD in Biomedical Informatics, Health Informatics, or related quantitative field.
5+ years leading research informatics initiatives in an academic health system, translational research environment or industry.
Evidence of scholarly productivity and leadership in clinical research informatics (publications, grants, national roles).
Experience with Cerner/Oracle, REDCap, i2b2, AWS Snowflake, TriNetX and other EHR tools used in research/clinical trials.
Familiarity with IRB processes, HIPAA and CRDSA standards, and enterprise-scale medical terminology mapping (LOINC, RxNorm, SNOMED).

Responsibilities

Direct the design, deployment, and optimization of informatics tools to support cohort discovery, trial eligibility, recruitment, study management, and research data analytics.
Implement data access and sharing platforms such as REDCap, i2b2, AWS Snowflake and OMOP-based data marts.
Lead data harmonization across OMOP CDM, PCORnet CDM, i2b2, ACT to enable cross-site analytics.
Build honest broker systems for controlled data access and connect genomics data with clinical data on cloud storage.
Serve as strategic/technical lead for MHN use of Cerner/Oracle for Research, including governance and user support.
Mentor and train informaticians, software engineers, and DBAs to build a scalable team.
Collaborate with MHN/IT and faculty to align platform capabilities with grant-funded priorities and budgets.
Facilitate data access for fellows, residents, and students for research projects.
Oversee cloud-native research-data ecosystems (AWS, Snowflake) spanning millions of records.
Develop and govern agile processes and CI/CD pipelines; ensure timely delivery of funded projects.
Define security controls to ensure HIPAA and CRDSA compliance across cloud environments.
