Job summary

Black Voters Matter (BVM) is seeking a Development Director based in Atlanta or surrounding areas to lead our national and state fundraising efforts. You will direct a broad range of activities, from donor cultivation to grant writing, and manage donor databases and reporting in collaboration with other teams.

You will oversee development staff, create major gifts programs, and drive messaging for fundraising across social and traditional channels while advancing BVM’s racial justice mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university required.
• Knowledge of donor databases and donor tracking is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office required (specifically Mail Merge using Excel and Word).
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced and collaborative team environment; manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt quickly.
• Excellent writing skills.
• Commitment to progressive causes.
• Donor centered approach with commitment to excellent customer service.
• Strong writing and verbal communications skills, and ability to give presentations.
• High attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develops and oversees fundraising strategies to increase BVM’s donor base, grant opportunities, and resource partnerships.
• Creates and monitors a major gifts system and maintains relationships with donors, foundations, and funds.
• Oversee BVM’s institutional giving program and grant submissions.
• Coordinate messaging across platforms to support fundraising efforts.
• Ensure timely, accurate reporting for foundations, donors, and internal leadership.
• Oversee hiring and supervision of development staff; provide training on fundraising and donor cultivation.
