Job summary

Housing Resources, Inc. (HRI) is seeking an experienced Development Director to lead fundraising, donor engagement, grant development, and special events to support housing stability in Kalamazoo, MI.

The role requires strategic oversight of annual fundraising plans and strong relationship-building with donors and partners. The ideal candidate will have grant-writing expertise, 3+ years in nonprofit leadership, and a passion for community impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, PR, marketing, business administration or related field.
• Minimum of three years in fundraising, development, grant writing, donor relations or nonprofit leadership.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an annual fundraising and development plan to meet revenue goals.
• Cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors, sponsors, foundations, and community partners.
• Research and manage grant applications, reports and funding proposals.
• Identify new funding opportunities and diversify revenue sources.
• Plan donor engagement activities, campaigns, and events; oversee donor records and databases.
• Prepare fundraising reports and analyses for leadership and the Board of Directors.
• Collaborate with leadership to align fundraising priorities with organizational goals.
• Create development communications and donor acknowledgements.
• Represent the organization at community events and meetings.
• Build relationships with funders and stakeholders.
• Assist with marketing, PR and brand awareness to support development.
• Ensure compliance with grant requirements and donor restrictions.
• Supervise staff, interns, volunteers, or consultants involved in development.
