Job summary

Battelle is seeking a Critical Minerals Technical Advisor, Government Business Development to shape and grow work across the critical minerals value chain for government markets. The role focuses on applying subject-matter expertise in a client-facing context to address national priorities.

The candidate will engage government stakeholders, identify opportunities, shape technical solutions, and translate client needs into actionable pursuits, working with Battelle’s leadership and partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mining, metallurgical, chemical engineering, materials science, geosciences, environmental engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years in critical minerals, rare earths, mining, metallurgy, or related technical area.
• Experience acquiring and managing federal awards for critical minerals research.
• Active engagement in U.S. critical-minerals value chain discussions.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to connect scientific capabilities to client missions and strategic objectives.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% as needed.
• U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain security clearance if required.

Responsibilities

• Engage with government clients and industry partners to understand priorities and mission requirements.
• Lead or contribute to client meetings, conferences, and forums to identify opportunities and funding directions.
• Develop client engagement plans, account strategies, and targeted conversations with stakeholders.
• Translate client needs into actionable technical pursuits and solution concepts.
• Identify teaming partners, universities, laboratories, and industry collaborators to strengthen Battelle’s position.
• Monitor policy developments and funding directions to identify potential opportunities.
• Assess client need, technical fit, competition, and execution considerations during qualification.
• Support development of strategic roadmaps, market assessments, and win strategies.
