Job summary

The Robert Baker Company seeks an experienced Controller to lead accounting and financial reporting across a multi-location organization. Reporting to the COO, the Controller will drive financial strategy, operational performance, and data-driven decision-making.

This role offers partnership with leadership, process improvement, and growth initiatives, with responsibility for budgeting, audits, treasury, and risk management across the company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and cash flow management.
• Proven leadership experience managing and developing accounting staff.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Leading general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting functions across multiple locations.
• Managing monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
• Developing and maintaining strong internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial systems.
• Leading annual budgeting and forecasting initiatives.
• Analyzing financial performance, profitability, expenses, and cash flow while providing recommendations to executive leadership.
• Managing treasury functions, banking relationships, and working capital.
• Overseeing credit and collections activities and monitoring accounts receivable performance.
• Coordinating tax compliance activities with external tax professionals.
• Serving as a key contact for auditors, banks, brokers, and financial advisors.
• Overseeing annual financial reviews and audits.
• Managing business insurance programs and risk management initiatives.
• Developing and mentoring accounting team members.
• Collaborating with senior leadership to support strategic planning and organizational growth.
