Job summary

GHJ Search is recruiting on behalf of a growing multi-location heavy equipment organization for a Controller to lead accounting operations and financial reporting. This hands-on finance leadership role partners with senior management to drive performance, mentor the team, and improve processes.

The Controller will oversee AP, AR, GL, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and internal controls across locations, coordinate audits, and provide strategic financial insights to CFO and leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial management experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
• Experience in equipment dealerships, construction, or related capital equipment industry preferred.
• Experience with ERP or dealership management systems preferred.
• Strong Excel, financial analysis, and reporting skills.
• CPA or CMA preferred.
• Proven leadership skills in multi-location environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations across AP, AR, and general ledger functions.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and variance analysis.
• Monitor financial performance and KPIs and provide actionable insights to leadership.
• Develop and maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Coordinate annual audits and oversee tax compliance activities.
• Manage reconciliations across multiple dealership locations and accounts.
• Partner with senior management on strategic planning, investment analysis, and cost-saving initiatives.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members.
