Job summary

CFS in Niles, MI is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the accounting function and provide strategic financial leadership. This hands-on role partners with leadership to drive performance, improve processes, and support growth.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA/CMA preferred), 7+ years in accounting with leadership, expertise in month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, GAAP and internal controls, plus Advanced Excel and ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or CMA preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership.
• Experience leading month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and internal controls.
• Advanced Excel and ERP/accounting systems experience.
• Manufacturing, distribution, or multi-entity accounting experience is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and ability to partner across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close, financial reporting, and general ledger accounting.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and analysis.
• Manage accounting team (AP, AR, payroll, and daily ops).
• Ensure GAAP compliance and maintain internal controls; coordinate audits.
• Partner with leadership to improve processes and support strategic decisions.
