Job summary

Education First FCU is seeking a centralized lending underwriter to evaluate consumer loan applications submitted by Consumer Loan Officers and other lending staff. The position requires granting or denying loans within approved limits while maximizing the number of service relationships with members.

The role involves communicating loan decisions to staff, explaining denials or rate calculations, and maintaining loan quality within the loan portfolio.

Qualifications

• Two to three years' experience in lending, customer service, teller area, member service, or new accounts in a business or financial institution.

Responsibilities

• Receives member loan requests from Consumer Loan officers and other Credit Union lending staff and evaluates/underwrites loan requests with judgment and discretion.
• Communicates loan decisions to Consumer Loan Officers and other staff; discusses denials, alternatives, and rate computations clearly.
• Routes loan applications with decisions to appropriate staff for follow-up; documents adverse actions as needed.
• Maintains loan quality by reviewing monthly loan maintenance reports and assisting in special projects or policy updates.
