Job summary

Turner & Townsend is looking for a Risk Manager to join our growing team in the construction and capital projects space. The ideal candidate will lead risk management efforts across multiple projects, applying quantitative & qualitative methods to identify threats and opportunities, and to inform contingency planning.

The role requires strong communication, analytical skills, and experience with program controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of applicable experience.
• Experience in Program Management or Program Controls environment.
• Deep knowledge of risk identification, facilitation and techniques.
• Strong communication, analytical and negotiation skills.
• In-depth understanding of construction contracts, commercial models, and delivery methods.
• Proficient in process mapping, root causes analysis, problem solving, and value-stream mapping.

Responsibilities

• Maintain visibility of threat/opportunity trigger points to facilitate risk cost profiling, timely drawdown of risk budget or retirement of threat/opportunity.
• Use risk data to inform investment planning.
• Monitor overall risk exposure and assess the remaining risk budget.
• Work with contractors to assess held risks and client risks that impact them.
• Produce risk reports to support communication of threat and opportunity status.
• Conduct quantitative risk assessment (cost and schedule) to inform project contingency levels.
• Initiate improvements to risk management services for the client.
• Lead end-to-end risk management across multiple projects/programs.
• Create risk management plans and processes aligned to client requirements and frameworks.
• Conduct risk reviews; identify, analyze, and determine response plans.
• Lead and run a comprehensive schedule and cost-effective risk assessment (QCRA & QSRA).
• Integrate risk management within program controls with cost/schedule touchpoints.
• Collaborate with program controls teams to eliminate redundancies and identify improvements.
• Transfer knowledge within risk and project controls teams; present to clients.
• Create value stream maps to quantify pain points and reduce waste.
• Collaborate on supplier performance management and action plans.
• Support expert witnesses in arbitral or litigation processes.
• Lead, manage, and carry out contract and claims management.
• Assess contractual claims per contract; provide strategic and contractual dispute guidance.
• Carry out change management and construction stage cost control.
• Supervise measurement and valuation of completed works and variations.
• Manage settlements with contractors; SOX controls may apply.
