Job summary

Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP seeks a Conflicts Attorney to identify, analyze, and resolve conflicts of interest across new matters and hires. Hybrid role with multiple U.S. offices, including Chicago, involves research, policy work, and practical recommendations for the Ethics Committee and General Counsel.

The role covers professional-responsibility matters, engagement letters, and conflict waivers, with supervision but opportunities to lead projects and mentor staff.

Qualifications

• J.D. required and bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Experience at a large law firm preferred.
• Strong analytical and research skills.
• Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
• Supervisory and budgetary oversight experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify, analyze, and resolve conflicts under supervision of senior counsel.
• Review conflicts searches and provide first-level analyses.
• Advise attorneys conducting conflicts reviews and draft engagement letters.
• Gather due-diligence info on potential hires and matters for ethics committees.
• Draft ethics screens and Rule 1.11 disclosures as needed.
• Provide professional-responsibility training to attorneys and staff.
• Monitor developments in conflicts law and professional standards.
• Oversee staff performing conflicts-of-interest analysis as needed.
