Job summary

TowneBank is seeking an experienced leader to drive the Compliance Assurance Program across multiple bases, including Suffolk, Raleigh, or Charlotte. You will champion testing methodologies, oversee a dedicated team, and ensure timely, well-documented results to support regulatory expectations and internal risk controls.

The role requires deep knowledge of U.S. banking regulations, strong communication, and the ability to coordinate with business lines and risk management to advance Towne’s risk

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, risk management, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in compliance testing, compliance risk management, or audit.
• 5+ years of experience successfully managing compliance professionals.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. banking laws and regulations applicable to mid-sized banks or larger.
• Demonstrated experience designing or executing risk-based compliance testing programs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead the execution and enhancement of Towne’s Compliance Assurance Program.
• Develop, manage, and submit for approval Towne’s risk-based compliance testing schedule, based on laws, regulations, products, services, leadership direction, and business processes.
• Ensure testing methodologies, workpapers, sampling techniques, and reporting practices align with regulatory expectations, Towne’s procedures, and best practices.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of controls designed to mitigate compliance risk and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Train, manage, and oversee the Compliance Assurance Program team; set objectives and development plans.
• Allocate resources and prioritize testing activities based on regulatory risk and Towne’s objectives.
• Escalate performance issues and ensure timely completion of the annual plan.
• Own and maintain the regulatory compliance testing procedures; validate corrective actions.
• Promote consistency, quality, and efficiency across compliance assurance activities.
• Prepare reports and executive summaries for leadership and regulators about assurance results and aging.
