Job summary

PowerSouth Energy Cooperative, headquartered in Andalusia, AL, is a generation and transmission electric cooperative serving Alabama and northwest Florida. The Communications Specialist II assists the Public Relations Supervisor in projects to maintain a positive public image, building strong relationships with employees, members, media and community organizations.

The role involves writing assignments, such as speechwriting and technical writing, and using traditional and emerging technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or closely related field.
• Hands-on skills in writing, editing, layout and design.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated experience in internal communications and storytelling preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in planning, developing and implementing PowerSouth's total communications program (PowerLines, newsletters, digital content, website).
• Provides support and maintains contact with employees, members, media and community organizations to foster positive relationships.
• Assists with planning tours of facilities and coordinating events with community organizations.
• Promotes teamwork and upholds standards of respect, integrity, and trust within the organization.
