The Communications Specialist II is responsible for assisting the Public Relations Supervisor in carrying out PowerSouth's communications projects and initiatives in order to project and maintain a positive public image through means including, but not limited to: cultivating and upholding strong relationships with PowerSouth employees, distribution members, the media, and PowerSouth community organizations; assisting with aspects of PowerSouth's internal and external publications using both traditional and emerging technologies; various writing assignments (i.e., speechwriting and technical writing); and various other communications duties. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or a closely related field. The incumbent should have demonstrable hands-on skills such as content organization, writing, editing, layout, design and technical skills. Competency in Adobe Creative Suite as well as excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, are required. Demonstrated experience in internal communications, audience engagement, and effective storytelling is preferred.
