Job summary

Turck, Inc. in Minnesota is seeking a Commodities Manager to develop and implement sourcing strategies for raw, semi-finished, finished, and indirect materials.

You will act as a strategic partner to Engineering and R&D, ensure early supplier involvement, and drive the RFQ roadmap to meet future technical and cost goals. You will lead supplier selection, negotiate MSAs, and oversee the RFQ process, with a focus on cost savings, supply base stability, and risk mitigation across global sourcing.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in engineering and/or business with technical aptitude.
• 5+ years of experience sourcing, buying from, and negotiating with suppliers (including commodity mgmt).
• Excellent and proven negotiation skills with proven performance.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Thorough understanding of manufacturing concepts and knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.
• Excellent computer skills (advanced Excel and reporting).
• Demonstrate influence management and leadership skills; build cross-functional consensus and mentor junior staff.
• Experience sourcing high-mix, low-volume electronics or precision electromechanical assemblies.
• Advanced proficiency in financial analysis, includingShould-Cost models for RFQ responses.
• Comfortable with international exposure/international sourcing.
• CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Chain Management).
• Experience using data visualization tools (Power BI or Tableau).
• Strong background in electromechanical/electronics/metal/plastics components.
• Experience using web-based purchasing/technical search engines.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Proactive with a sense of urgency.
• Solid analytical and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement sourcing and commodity strategies to meet company objectives.
• Educate themselves on Turck products and promote continuity of supply.
• Lead RFQ strategy and negotiate MSAs; ensure smooth PO hand-off.
• Engage suppliers in PPAP and new product development.
• Monitor supplier performance using KPI’s and drive supplier development.
• Lead cross-functional workshops for cost-out opportunities.
• Support end-of-life mitigation and alternate sourcing.
• Oversee supplier relations and audits.
• Collaborate with global sourcing counterparts to harmonize supplier selection.
